Program notes:
The triskelion or triscele is an ancient symbol consisting of three spirals connected at a central point, used in various cultures, including Celtic, Sicilian and Sardinian. The meaning of the triskelion can vary depending on the culture and context in which it is used. It is generally believed to represent movement, transformation and change, symbolising life as an eternal cycle of birth, death and rebirth.
In other cultures it is a symbol of balance and harmony between three complementary forces.
The idea of the piece is inspired by the very concept to which the symbol refers, i.e. three formal elements that travel and dialogue with each other during the musical journey, as if each were born and emerged from the other, intertwining and evolving in complementarity.
